Ponder Thy Paths

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. -John 1:1

This has become my “writing verse.” I was looking for a verse that would represent me as a Christian writer and it suddenly hit me that God uses the written word to reveal Himself to us.

I would never call my writing holy or sanctified, but wow!

My prayer is that this verse reminds me every time I sit down to write that the Creator gave me my creative talent, and I am reflecting Him however I choose to use it. I have often heard the statement, “Be the moon. Reflect the Son.” I hope my written words act as a proper mirror to direct the glory in the proper direction.

Even with my love for writing and my desire to use my writing for the glory of God, I often find myself too disorganized to actually find time to write. I’ve tried multiple planners to help organize my world, and I have always been left feeling frustrated back at square one.

Available planners lacked space for my favorite activity – writing. I was also seeking a few other things like submission tracking pages and income and expense record keeping pages. With the advice of Toni Morrison echoing through my head — If there’s a book you really want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it – I set out to solve my own problem, and Ponder Thy Paths was born.

From the seventeen-syllable haiku to the 10,000 page tome, all writing is a labor of love, and you can’t love my planner as much as I do. However, I do hope it helps you as you follow your own writing path.

I practice a deliberate commitment to carry less with me everywhere I go, and my planner is writing roomy by design so I publish it quarterly.

Enjoy this video for how I put my dream planner together using the April through June quarter.
