I love counting up how much leaves the house during a certain time period, and passing things on to someone else is my favorite way to get rid of things, provided the things are wanted or needed by the people I'm passing them too. Decluttering is almost therapeutic to me; I feel lighter, calmer, and happier when we only have the stuff we really like or really need. This week I've been pairing down the boys' clothing and pulling out the next size up for the baby. I really enjoy giving away boxes of hand-me downs, because I know how much I appreciate receiving them. Recently, I combed through our kitchen for Simple Mom’s Project Simplify. And I did pretty good at it. But I've found it's something you need to work at again and again - because one year you may not be ready to let something go, and the next you realize you don't need the object to hold onto the memories.
