Hello, I’m a Writer
I delve deep
to find the beauty in the little things.
Sometimes I just stare at the moon.
Lots of times, I’m slightly goofy,
but I always stand for what’s right.
I admit: I’m a bit mysterious.
DON’T tell me NOT to be loud.
I can enjoy a good challenge.
I’m not as fragile as I look.
Watch for my thorns.

Do you remember the inspirations for your dreams?
I specifically remember when I decided to “be a writer.” I don’t know what prompted such an idea, but I went to my room with pencil and paper thinking, “I’m going to write a story!” I cast around for names, saw POLLY, PETE AND PIXIE GO SHOPPING on my bedroom floor, and wrote “Polly and Pete Go Mountain Climbing!” For years I shared it with pride with anyone who would take the time to read it. Now I’m not sure I would share it with anyone! (I still keep it because it might turn into something good someday.)
Years have passed since that first moment of inspiration. I haven’t always made the time to write, but I have realized that when I’m not writing I get a little crazy. Other writers may know what I mean.

The Characters of My Life
*My two oldest children helped create these bios and code names.*
My Man, three months younger than me, strives daily to love me as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). When he’s nervous he makes too many corny jokes, and when he’s angry he comes up with the most nonsensical arguments in existence. What would life be like without him? I believe I would still be a caterpillar, too hopelessly frightened of my own emotions and dreams to ever emerge as a butterfly.
Stellaluna, age six, likes to do tricks with her dog. Her favorite color is pink. Her favorite foods are mashed potatoes and apple pie with whipped cream. She wants to play on a soccer team. Stellaluna loves visiting friends, and everyone is a friend because she never meets a stranger. She also loves all kinds of animals and playing with her baby sister.
Lightening McQueen, age five, likes teaching his baby sister to say words. He likes to exercise so he’ll be really strong. He loves drawing pictures for a lot of people. His favorite color is red. He likes playing with his dog. He also likes to practice dribbling. He wants to play on a hockey team. He also really likes to play with play dough.
Mr. Monkey, age two, is really crazy. He likes to chew on stuff. He enjoys cars and really likes his big blue and white ball. He is sweet to his baby sister and demands to keep up with the “big kids.” He plays with lots of toys and shares well.
Gabriel lives with God. We got to love on him for a very short time, but we are grateful for the gifts his life has given.
Ladybug, our Rainbow Baby, was born in July. She fusses a lot but smiles too. She loves her big brothers and sister to play and talk with her. She sleeps a lot and smiles in her sleep. Her siblings say she’s so cute!
